For users new to eCQMs, CMS provides an eCQI Resource Center. The site provides access to resources related to gaining an understanding of eCQMs, including a section under “Get Started with eCQMs” for new users: Latest News | eCQI Resource Center as well as a “Teach Me CQL Video Series”:

Pioneers in Quality™ Video Shorts 

Pioneers in Quality™ Video Shorts 

The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Mathematica Policy Research are providing a new series of on-demand educational video shorts about electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs). Episodes are approximately 2-3 minutes in length and offer an engaging, succinct, and contemporary approach to teach these complex and comprehensive topics. The eCQM video shorts lead the viewer to understand:

  • Application of eCQM resources

  • eCQM constructs and

  • Logic expression language concepts (CQL, FHIR)

  • Considering the pressing burdens on the hospital environment, the On-Demand format allows for:

  • Flexibility and convenience

  • Easily sharable content as a quick refresher or for new team members

These are the same video shorts that are available on The Joint Commission and CMS websites and launched via the Joint Commission’s Pioneers in Quality and CMS' promotional emails.

Evaluation Survey 

Viewers will be emailed a link to take a short survey. The Joint Commission uses all feedback provided from participants to determine future educational product needs. This feedback assists in addressing knowledge gaps and assessing the effectiveness of our educational content.
